Welcome to our playful, regenerative future work garden 🌱

We invited 30 curious work-life optimists to join us in collectively imagining what a playful, regenerative future work garden might look like 💭

Our playful, regenerative work garden is a close-knit community of like-minded people who share responsibility for one another, inspire one another, and offer thought partnership and feedback to help everyone grow. They gather and make time for shared meals and group reflection in sacred treehouses and around campfires to keep their growing sustainable and intentional, and they have a shared understanding of higher-level organizational/garden goals.

The garden is designed with both people and the planet in mind, and its slow and sustainable practices and rituals prioritize the health of the soil, the pollinators, and the healers. There are no toxic pesticides, and the land is rotated in seasonal cycles to promote regeneration and biodiversity and make space per personal seasons and rhythms.

People have the time and flexibility to engage in activities that are fun and creative and nourishing, while also contributing to the health and vitality of the garden. They take pleasure in tickling the tomatoes and exploring spaces that invite imagining and exploring new creative hobbies and endeavors.

There are no set roles or hierarchies, everyone is free to explore and contribute in their own unique way, with unlimited vacation time and a universal basic income for everyone.

Rather than living in scarcity and competition, the flowers and plants in this garden are generously making space for each other, and sharing access to light and nutrients. A bigger plant might support a smaller one, which might not have access to the same amount of light.

Throughout the garden, there is a palpable sense of joy, love, and care, and every person is given space and support to cultivate and share their unique talents. Garden cats roam freely, fairies and mystical beings remind us of our superpowers, big bands, and jazz ensembles occasionally provide music for everyone to enjoy, there's a little song playing like a movie soundtrack everywhere we walk, Michelle Obama sometimes comes by and reads a story at the campfire. The garden is a life-affirming space that feels welcoming and nourishing to all who enter.

What do we need to groom this garden? 👩‍🌾

From Individualism to Community Care

In our regenerative future of work, we shift from individualism to community care, designing a close-knit, diverse community that fosters collaboration, connection, and shared responsibility. We make this change possible by embracing love and care and generously sharing time, knowledge, and resources, prioritizing shared meals, group reflection, and a collective vision.

From scarcity to abundance.

Instead of operating from a mindset of lack and limitation, we cultivate an abundance mentality that recognizes the vast opportunities and resources available to us. In this abundant paradigm, we foster a culture of generosity, where we freely share knowledge, support one another, and uplift collective growth. We believe that there is enough success, fulfillment, and abundance for everyone, and by embracing this mindset, we unlock the unlimited potential within ourselves and our communities.

From expectation to intention.

Instead of being confined by predetermined outcomes, we embrace the transformative power of setting clear intentions and aligning our actions with our core values. We center our learning and personal growth over metric-driven results. This intension creates a space where creative expression flourishes and a deep sense of fulfillment is found. Within this nurturing environment, we recognize our own worth and seize opportunities for what resonates with our authentic selves.

From urgency to longevity.

From power and hierarchy to freedom and ownership.

We're relinquishing the clutch on ideas, titles, and power, shifting away from corporate hierarchy, micromanagement, and expertise hoarding. Instead, we introduce fair pay, different metrics of success, and flatten organizations to allow everyone to contribute based on their strengths and preferences. Circular leadership and healthy dialogues are prioritized, forming teams and collaborators.
